Operations Support Analyst

12-month on-site assignment in downtown Brooklyn (Livingston Plaza, NY). Travel within the MTA network and extended field assignments may be required.

About the role

As part of a 24×7 operations team, you will monitor critical hardware and software systems across MTA agencies, configure and optimize alarms, eliminate nuisance alerts, and ensure actionable alerts reach the correct parties. You will also assist in developing new monitoring tools for SQL/Oracle databases and hardware on diverse platforms.

Responsibilities

• Monitor facility temperature alerts, CPU, memory, and storage utilization on servers, APC Netbotz devices, Oracle databases, and hardware.
• Open and escalate tickets as needed; assist system administrators with incident resolution.
• Run pre-written scripts in Windows, Linux, and AS/400 environments.
• Configure and optimize alarms from HP servers, APC Netbotz devices, and Building Management Systems to reduce false positives.
• Collaborate with IT facility managers across the region to install, upgrade, and maintain field hardware.
• Develop and refine monitoring tools for critical systems.

Requirements

• Experience in 24×7 operations support.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PuTTY, and APC Netbotz.
• Hands-on experience with Windows, Linux, and AS/400 environments.
• Basic MS Office proficiency.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Schedule

• Initial 4–6 week training: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.
• Permanent shift: 11:00 PM–7:00 AM, Thursday (into Friday) and Friday (into Saturday) off.
• Overnight and weekend work required; on-site in downtown Brooklyn.
