Operations Supervisor - Wild Turkey

This role offers the opportunity to lead a team central to the maturation of Wild Turkey bourbon.

About the Role

As Operations Warehouse Supervisor, you will guide and develop the team across our barrel warehousing department, fostering a culture of accountability and high standards. Responsible for managing day-to-day production requirements, including safety, quality, and performance across the barrel warehousing department. You will coordinate activities related to barreling distillate, movement and storage of unaged and aged product, and transportation needs, all within a collective bargaining environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for the department, including training and development of employees.
• Work proactively and collaboratively with other departments to meet daily production demands, achieve KPIs, and address issues as they arise.
• Implement continuous improvement actions to close gaps in KPIs or increase productivity.
• Lead and/or participate in Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) to identify and correct underlying issues rather than symptoms.
• Ensure accurate recording of all barrels using the warehouse management system.
• Provide information for and adhere to the annual departmental operating budget.
• Communicate and address deficiencies affecting Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Maintain compliance with GMP, ISO, and food safety standards related to the warehouse department.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and resolve risks.
• Supervise hourly employees in compliance with Union contract requirements while fostering a continuous improvement mindset.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and training to develop team capabilities, improve performance, and onboard new employees.
• Drive the development of an empowered and self-directed department.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and all other regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with the site EH&S Manager to ensure compliance with GMP practices, food safety, and site safety rules.
• Ensure all employees follow prescribed PPE safety requirements for their assigned work areas.
• Promote a safe working environment, including maintaining organization of materials, supplies, tools, and production-related items (5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
• Immediately report and document any safety incidents, including bodily injury, near misses, potential dangers, spills, or other accidents.
• Address all safety-related items in the department and lead discussions on safety.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years in a warehouse environment, preferably barrel storage.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervising people in a Union environment.
  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft Excel is preferred.
  • Experience in inventory management, material handling, and transportation systems.
  • Experience in the spirits industry is a plus.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of barrel warehousing, preferably in the spirits category.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and problem-solve in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to manage people effectively, develop capabilities, and continuously improve results.
  • Collaborative work ethic, with the ability to influence across all levels of plant operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of TTB regulations, ISO requirements, and Food Safety processes is a plus.
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
