About the Role
Standard Operations Position on the AFTERNOON SHIFT (e.g., 10am–6pm). Supervise a high-performing operations team while driving the safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of resources according to policies and procedures. Ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations and customer satisfaction. Support corporate and business-unit goals, metrics, and strategic changes.
Responsibilities
- Safety: Provide visible safety leadership and real-time accountability through safety meetings, job briefs, audits, training, accident investigations, and job-site observations. Partner closely with the Safety Consultant.
- Business Optimization & Strategy: Evaluate team performance using operational efficiency, reliability, and quality metrics; monitor trends and take corrective action. Reinforce process adherence and data integrity. Identify and drive continuous-improvement opportunities.
- Operational Effectiveness: Oversee crew productivity and quality of execution. Maintain a consistent field presence, remove barriers (pre-requisites, materials, stakeholder issues), and align crew skills with work activities via coordinators, planners, and schedulers, prioritizing customer satisfaction and reliability.
- Talent Management: Recruit, set clear performance expectations, manage performance, provide training and coaching, and drive employee engagement. Lead bargaining-unit issues, grievances, corrective actions, and development.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain effective internal and external relationships. Leverage systems and resources to assist employees, work groups, customers, and stakeholders, enabling crews to resolve issues and improve satisfaction.
- Regulatory & Compliance: Coordinate execution and documentation of work in accordance with Xcel Energy policies, labor agreements, and regulatory standards. Support required compliance/technical training and establish processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Three or more years in design, construction, operations, engineering, or maintenance of utility systems/power-generation plants or related industries.
- Demonstrated knowledge of functional-area standards, procedures, and applicable government/environmental regulations.
- Operational knowledge of work and asset-management applications and analytical/reporting tools.
- Effective change leader with proven ability to communicate company/business strategies and objectives to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven results in achieving performance metrics and driving process adherence.
- Experience working as or with bargaining-unit employees.
- Completion of an approved apprentice program in a related craft.
- Understanding of utility finance.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and/or be on call.
Preferred Qualifications
- Informal leadership or supervisory experience.
Pay
Anticipated starting base pay: $97,600.00 to $138,600.00 per year.
