About the Role
The Operations Supervisor directs job assignments and provides technical hands-on leadership to production and shipping staff, ensuring a professional attitude while meeting production schedules and customer commitments.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain safety practices in compliance with company policies.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Develop employee skills through training, guidance, and coaching.
- Supervise and assist in training for production and shipping processes.
- Develop new procedures to ensure consistent performance.
- Communicate shift activity, changes to equipment, processes, and materials to personnel.
- Participate in planning production and shipping schedules.
- Allocate resources to minimize downtime and ensure safe, efficient completion of activities.
- Prioritize and manage workload to meet daily objectives.
- Monitor efficiency and quality of production and logistics jobs.
- Review daily production and shipping goals; report issues preventing goal attainment.
- Assist in troubleshooting production, shipping, incidents, accidents, and customer complaints.
- Review production records for completion and accuracy.
- Review and approve timesheets for production and shipping personnel.
- Control costs through effective manpower management.
- Maintain inventory and replenish production and shipping supplies.
- Ensure team members have necessary resources and equipment for safe operations.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of inventory and hazardous materials.
- Perform supervisory functions including hiring, training, appraisals, counseling, and discipline.
- Conduct performance appraisals and communicate results to management.
- Facilitate smooth information flow within the company to support business operations.
- Manage employee conduct or performance issues in line with company policies.
- Collaborate across operations to meet quality, EHS&S policies, and customer needs.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Exhibit and practice the company’s fundamental behaviors.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED (desired but not required).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Production, Packaging, Logistics, or Petrochemical industries.
- Leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
- Knowledge of and experience working with hazardous materials.
