Purpose
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day Distribution Center operations by providing direct frontline leadership, coordinating workflow across departments, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of product throughout the facility.
General Description of duties
- Operate across the DC, Customer service, and delivery as operation needs
- Serve as the critical link between the Operations Manager, Department Managers, and Associates, translating daily priorities and facility-wide goals into clear direction on the floor
- Assign daily work and task allocation to associates based on volume, staffing, and business priorities, adjusting in real time to meet production and service commitments
- Maintain productivity, throughput, and quality throughout the shift; identify bottlenecks and reallocate labor or resources to keep product moving in and out on schedule
- Lead daily team huddles to communicate priorities, safety topics, and performance expectations
- Coach, train, and cross-train associates on processes, equipment, and quality standards; support onboarding of new hires
- Conduct performance check-ins, provide real-time feedback, and document attendance, conduct, and performance issues
- Perform quality control checks and daily audits to ensure products are received, prepped, assembled, repaired, staged, or delivered to company standards
- Enforce all safety protocols and PPE requirements; complete safety audits and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors
- Ensure proper use, care, and daily inspection of warehouse equipment including RF scan guns, powered industrial equipment, hand trucks, and tablets
- Track and support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, spot checks, and timely reporting of discrepancies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area consistent with 5S and company housekeeping standards
- Escalate order, inventory, staffing, or customer issues to the Operations Manager with recommended solutions rather than surface-level reporting
- Partner with leaders across operational departments to coordinate workflows, ensure seamless handoffs, and maintain efficient end-to-end product flow throughout the facility
Qualifications
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-functional operations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Comfortable navigating warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanning technology, and basic reporting tools
- Safety-first mindset with working knowledge of OSHA regulations and powered industrial equipment operation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting workloads simultaneously
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills for coaching associates and reporting to leadership
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in a lead, supervisory, or similar frontline leadership role
- 3-5 years of experience in a distribution center, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated success coaching and developing associates preferred
- Powered industrial equipment (forklift) certification preferred or ability to obtain within an assigned timeframe
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and peak-season hours as needed
