Operations Supervisor

About the Role

This position supervises and coordinates day-to-day construction and Deactivation & Decommissioning (D&D) operations in radiological and non-radiological work areas to maintain consistent production goals. The role requires close collaboration with Radiological Supervisors, Environmental Engineers, Radiological Engineers, Safety Personnel, and the Project Management Organization (PMO).

Responsibilities

  • Works autonomously within established procedures and practices to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, Company, and NRF-specific health and safety regulations to prevent accidents.
  • Exercises judgment, based on previous experience, practices, and precedents, to identify and solve problems with little or no precedent.
  • Provides supervisory oversight and leadership for all personnel to ensure the highest safety, environmental, radiological, and operational standards.
  • Maintains adequate materials and equipment for each work area and crew, including procuring, inspecting materials for quality, and ensuring consumables supply.
  • Organizes daily work, inspects site conditions, and manages on-site activities.
  • Identifies potential project risks (safety, schedule, cost, etc.).
  • Ensures all work efforts are performed safely and efficiently.
  • Inspects work to ensure it meets blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Serves as the operations liaison between various work groups in the field and between seller and buyer follow groups.
  • Schedules, manages, and resolves conflicts between different trades.
  • Monitors the field status of all jobs under supervision.
  • Keeps the Remediation Manager informed on job status.
  • Assures radiological controls, individual training, and work practices align with site conditions.
  • Audits work in-progress to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Tracks personnel exposure at the job site, ensuring available personnel have adequate exposure to complete tasks.
  • Controls the completion of routine and non-routine operations to maintain production schedules.
  • Monitors project progress, identifies bottlenecks, and adjusts workflows to meet deadlines.
  • Submits scheduling information to the Production Coordinator as needed.
  • Works directly with engineering to identify required material purchases and procurement activities.
  • Performs technical work document review, scheduling, cost control and tracking, employee relations, and work quality.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a supervisor in D&D operations, the construction industry, and/or the navy nuclear power field.
  • Must obtain and maintain Radiological Controls qualifications and others as directed by Naval Reactors.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" security clearance. Current clearance preferred.
  • Extensive background in D&D and Construction Operations and/or the navy nuclear power program to provide daily oversight and supervision of operations personnel.
  • Ability to perform simple operations on a personal computer and complete administrative paperwork with minimal errors.

Pay

As of the date of this posting, the pay range for this position is $102,000 - $170,000 per year. Compensation depends on experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity.
