Operations Specialist
This role supports a busy Trade Services Desk responsible for processing documentation related to the movement of goods and funds between businesses and financial institutions. You'll work with trade documentation from receipt through processing, helping ensure transactions are accurate, complete, and handled according to established procedures.
Location: Charlotte, NC - 100% onsite
Responsibilities
- Review and process documentation associated with Letters of Credit (LCs) and international trade transactions.
- Examine Letter of Credit documents for accuracy, completeness, and authenticity.
- Support documentary collections and other Trade Services processes.
- Receive, organize, open, and prepare incoming trade documentation and packages.
- Scan, capture, and maintain trade documents within internal systems.
- Send and route documentation according to transaction instructions and established procedures.
- Support documentation exchanged bank-to-bank for import and export transactions.
- Research and assist with more complex or escalated operational questions.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal banking and operations teams to ensure timely and accurate processing.
Requirements
- 4+ years of banking, securities, trade services, or financial operations experience.
- Hands-on experience with Letters of Credit is highly preferred.
- Understanding of documentary collections and trade-processing workflows.
- Familiarity with international trade, including documentation associated with the import/export and movement of goods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or discrepancies within financial documents.
- Comfortable working in a documentation-heavy, deadline-driven operational environment.
- Experience using SharePoint.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
