Operations Specialist
This position is part-time telework, requiring at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the Houston, TX office or project site. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor.
About the role
In this role, you will be an integral member of the Workforce Services Employee Relations (ER) team, supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives focused on capability development, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and employee relations effectiveness. The Operations Specialist will partner closely with ER and wider Workforce Services Teams to enhance team capability through training coordination and performance improvement initiatives. The role is responsible for identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve consistency, leverage data and insights, and strengthen overall ER service delivery. The role combines operational coordination, continuous improvement, and analytics to support a high-performing ER function. As business priorities evolve, the Operations Specialist will be expected to lead or support strategic projects and organizational improvement initiatives that contribute to the long-term success of the Workforce Services organization.
Responsibilities
- Support the creation of the Workforce Services governance framework, ensuring alignment between policies, standards, procedures, guidelines, templates, and supporting resources.
- Support audits, assessments, quality reviews, and governance reporting activities by ensuring documentation and supporting records are maintained appropriately.
- Develop governance dashboards, metrics, and reporting mechanisms to monitor document health, review cycles, compliance obligations, and continuous improvement activities.
- Identify opportunities to standardize documentation, reduce duplication, simplify processes, and improve overall usability of Workforce Services resources.
- Support change management activities associated with policy, process, and governance updates to ensure successful adoption across Workforce Services.
- Support the ER Manager to coach ER Specialists to strengthen report writing and investigative practices.
- Coordinate and facilitate training sessions, workshops, knowledge-sharing forums, and team learning activities.
- Develop practical learning resources, job aids, playbooks, guides, and reference materials that promote consistency and best practice adoption.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration across the ER team.
- Partner with the wider Workforce Services team to support employee engagement and retention initiatives as required.
- Identify and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery, efficiency, consistency, and quality outcomes.
- Conduct assessments of current-state documentation and recommend improvements based on data, stakeholder feedback, and operational needs.
- Track improvement initiatives and monitor effectiveness through defined success measures.
- Support the long-term Craft Professional strategy by assisting with organizational communications, policy alignment, and change management practices that support business continuity and employee engagement.
- Promote adoption of best practices and ensure continuous alignment with organizational standards and governance requirements.
- Serve as a trusted partner in identifying operational challenges and recommending practical improvement solutions.
- Analyze investigations data to identify trends, recurring themes, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities and present to Workforce Services Leadership.
- Prepare presentations, summaries, and reports for ER leadership and Workforce Services management.
- Coordinate recurring operational reviews, lessons learned activities, and continuous improvement forums.
- Support change management activities associated with new programs, procedures, tools, or organizational initiatives.
- Assist with project planning, implementation tracking, and stakeholder communications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
- Experience in Employee Relations, Organizational Development, Continuous Improvement, or a related field.
- Experience leading or supporting process improvement initiatives and operational projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work across diverse stakeholder groups.
