Operations Shift Supervisor
Position Overview
Step into a high-impact leadership role at the world's largest manufacturing facility for single-mode optical fiber. As an Operations Shift Supervisor, you'll lead front-line operations in a 24/7 environment — driving safety, quality, and productivity while coaching and developing the people who keep our fiber moving to customers around the world.
Primary Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead shift operations with strong accountability for safety, quality, productivity, and adherence to standard operating procedures
- Supervise, coach, and develop a large team of hourly employees and front-line leaders, providing timely feedback and performance evaluations
- Partner with cross-functional support teams to resolve issues, maintain workflow, and hit production targets
- Implement training and certification plans to build team capability and maintain compliance
- Communicate shift performance, key issues, and operational updates to the leadership team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Engineering preferred) with 2+ years of manufacturing experience; OR current enrollment in college-level coursework with 4+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
- Strong decision-making and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple objectives simultaneously
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with employees at all levels
- Commitment to positive employee relations and consistent application of policies and procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Project management experience
- Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement experience
- Experience leading in a 24/7 high-volume manufacturing environment
Work Conditions
- Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days and nights), including weekends and holidays
- Travel: Less than 5%
Pay and Benefits
The range for this position is $80,750.00 - $111,031.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
