About the role

As an Operations Service Technician I, you'll install, test, and maintain services and equipment in homes and businesses, playing a key role in ensuring seamless connectivity. This hybrid position involves dispatches to customer sites in accordance with a daily schedule.
Responsibilities
- Installs and troubleshoots basic Voice, Data, and Video services on fiber networks.
- Performs data entry tasks: updating trouble tickets, processing orders, completing timesheets, provisioning systems and equipment, and updating internet service.
- Provisions and configures Wi-Fi: SSID settings, Guest Network Access, and wireless firewall options.
- Troubleshoots and resolves wireless connectivity issues.
- Installs and troubleshoots customer on-premise equipment (e.g., residential gateways, routers, switches, security systems, and station wiring).
- Installs and troubleshoots circuits (e.g., Voice, Broadband).
- Sets up fiber facilities, including Multi-Ports, and removes company-owned ONTs as needed.
- Handles provisioning, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of GPON/PON, routers, switches, DSL equipment, and more.
- Installs cross-connects at cross-connect and LCC cabinets for fiber circuits.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including departmental and cross-functional projects.
Training Components
- Training may include Zhone, SmartRG, AirTies, cabling and testing, Light Level Meter operation, and other relevant training as deemed necessary.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid, fully unencumbered Driver’s License required.
- Must reside within 30 minutes of the normal reporting location, including home-based work locations.
- Available for various schedules, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call duties as needed.
Qualifications
- 0+ years of related experience.
- Experience interacting directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Experience using MS Office Suite.
Skills
- Fiber or Telecom industry experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Safe driving record.
- Ability to understand and use technical documentation.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb utility poles (where applicable) and work at heights.
- Utilize handle extension and stepladders as required.
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas.
- Capable of lifting and transporting 50 lbs. over a distance of 50 feet.
- Near-constant use of sight, speech, hearing, comprehension, and reasoning.
