Operations Response Center (ORC) Trainee
for section headings: e.g., About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. But we can only include sections when posting has real specific content. We need to map content to these headings.
We have:
- About Seattle Public Utilities: description of SPU. Could map to "About the role"? Actually "About the role" is generic; but we have "About Seattle Public Utilities". Could use "About the role" heading and put that content. Or we could use "About Seattle Public Utilities" but the rule says use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). It suggests we should use those exact headings? It says "use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule)." So we can use those headings; we should not invent others. So we need to fit content under those headings.
Thus we need sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule.
We must include only sections that have real specific content.
Let's extract:
About the role: description of role: ORC Trainee, first point of contact, training, reporting to manager, etc. Also about SPU description could be part of About the role? Might be okay.
Responsibilities: list of duties: Emergency Response & Dispatch, Communications & Customer Service, Systems Management & Security, Documentation & Analysis. Use - .
Requirements: maybe qualifications (education, experience). Could be "Requirements" heading.
Qualifications: maybe desired qualifications? Actually we have "Qualifications" (education, experience) and "Desired Qualifications". Could combine? But we need separate headings if content exists. We have both "Qualifications" and "Desired Qualifications". Could map "Qualifications" to the mandatory qualifications (education, experience). And "Skills" to desired qualifications (skills). Or we could put desired qualifications under Skills.
Benefits: we have benefits description.
Pay: we have salary range.
Schedule: we have work schedule details (seven-day, 24-hour operation, graveyard shifts, etc). Also note no telework.
Thus we can create sections:
About the role
with paragraph(s) describing role and SPU.
Responsibilities
with - for each duty area (maybe sub-items). Could break each area into li with sub-bullets? But spec says use
- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. So we can have top-level li for each duty area, and inside maybe we can keep prose? Probably okay to have li containing the description.
Requirements
for mandatory qualifications: education (HS diploma/GED), experience (one year in computerized environment, public contact, typing 35 wpm). Could list as - .
Skills
for desired qualifications: previous experience in emergency dispatch, familiarity with utility ops, multi-line phone systems, radio, mass notification, security systems, problem-solving, communication, equity commitment, independent work, decision making. Could list as - .
Benefits
for benefits package: vacation, holiday, sick leave, medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, plus maybe mention of free public transportation, city pension plan, etc from earlier? Actually benefits listed earlier: "Generous benefits package Free public transportation options City pension plan with employer/employee contributions Growth potential and advancement opportunities". Also later: "Benefits: The City of Seattle offers a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, holiday, and sick leave as well as medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance for employees and their dependents." So combine.
Pay
for salary range: $33.23 - $38.66 per hour.
Schedule
for work schedule: seven-day, 24-hour operation including graveyard shifts, evenings, holidays, weekends; must be available for extended shifts during emergencies, extreme weather, storms, natural disasters; most work in office environment with computer workstations; no telework or flexible scheduling.
We must not include boilerplate like EEO, application instructions, etc. Remove "Additional Information" etc. Also remove "Who may apply" EEO statement. Also remove "If you have any questions..." etc. Also remove "Application Requirement(s)" etc. Also remove "Please note this job advertisement is not designed to cover..." etc.
We must preserve all substantive information; we have included role description, responsibilities, requirements, skills, benefits, pay, schedule. Did we miss any substantive info like "Over 1,400 SPU employees..."? That's part of About the role maybe. Also "SPU provides drinking water for 1.6 million customers". Also "SPU’s work includes system maintenance and improvements and keeping Seattle clean." Also "Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is a community-centered utility that delivers vital services..." etc. We'll include in About the role.
Also "As an ORC Operator, you'll serve as the critical first point of contact..." etc.
Also "You will report directly to the Operations Response Center Manager and become an integral part of SPU's emergency management infrastructure."
Also "Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) Risk and Quality Assurance Division is recruiting two Operations Response Center (ORC) Trainees." Might be part of About the role.
Also "This essential role combines comprehensive classroom training, hands-on field experience, and real-world operational learning to prepare you for 24/7 emergency response coordination."
Also "If you applied previously and have not received written notice that you are no longer under consideration, your application remains active..." That's application instruction/boilerplate; remove.
Also "There is no need to reapply." Remove.
Also "Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) Risk and Quality Assurance Division is recruiting two Operations Response Center (ORC) Trainees." Keep.
Also "As an ORC Operator, you'll serve as the critical first point of contact for utility emergency response, service calls, and communications with employees, customers, and the general public." Keep.
