Airbus Helicopters is seeking an Operations Planner to join the Production Planning Team in Columbus, MS. This role controls the release of production orders and parts between the warehouse and production floor using SAP, reports shortages, and communicates with departments regarding parts and production order issues.
About the role
Located on the eastern border of Mississippi, Columbus is home to Airbus Helicopters' manufacturing and assembly lines, producing the UH-72A Lakota for the U.S. Army and the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.
Responsibilities
- Release and control production orders to the production floor via SAP (50% of role).
- Issue parts, track and report shortages, and set up Excel spreadsheets for reporting shortages and KPIs.
- Monitor and process Quality Note tasks in a timely manner.
- Research and troubleshoot production order and parts issues.
- Coordinate between supporting departments to meet production schedules (25% of role).
- Attend assigned meetings for production status updates.
- Control work orders and material removal for configuration changes (CRF) (25% of role).
- Control consumption of the network in SAP.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience; related college-level studies may substitute for experience.
- Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under an existing ITAR license).
- Knowledge of material requirement planning systems and SAP (Modules MM, PP).
- Strong knowledge of technical terms, aircraft parts, and documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Word), Outlook, and SAP MRP systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree.
- Prior knowledge of aircraft parts and documentation.
Physical Requirements
- 100% onsite role.
- Ability to see and read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
- Daily hearing: participate in conversations, teleconferences, and hear production floor sounds (e.g., safety warnings).
- Daily speaking: participate in meetings and deliver information.
- Operate office equipment (computers, phones, copiers) and production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts).
- Carry/lift up to 30lbs/14kgs (documents, tools, equipment).
- Push/pull small office furniture and tools.
- Sit for extended periods, squat/kneel for low shelving, and stand for discussions.
- Walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
- Travel independently at short notice (no regular travel required).
- Wear required PPE: steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and gloves for shop floor visits.
