Operations Manager (Trucking)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operation ensuring customer satisfaction is successfully achieved
• Provide solid leadership for Logistics and Operation Coordinators and handles escalations and issues as needed
• Responsible for setting department goals, monitoring, controlling work flow, and ensuring an effective operating department
• Ensure efficiency and safety of day-to-day operations for the entire fleet of tractors, trailers, and driver force
• Monitor CSA Safety scores and implement training and disciplinary actions to resolve negative trends
• Work with Safety Department and keep up to date with tags, titles, registrations, Heavy-Use tax, and all other taxes and fees required by DOT and US law to operate a motor carrier
• Work with Fleet Department Manager and mechanics keep up to date with truck/trailer maintenance
• Coach, train, and develop dispatch team to exceed goals with 8 – 10 dispatchers
• Driver Management (ability to motivate and issue corrective actions) of over 50+ leased drivers

Job Requirements

• GPS tracking software knowledge
• Able to conduct driver and dispatch meetings
• Trucking industry operation or dispatch experience of 5 years or more
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written
• Proficient in Microsoft packages including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Proven organizational and managing skills
