About the Role

United Legwear & Apparel Company is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee daily store operations, develop and implement operational efficiencies, monitor merchandise receipt, organization, and storage, and maintain accurate inventory records. This role works closely with the General Manager and Store Managers to analyze sales metrics, ensure well-stocked and visually appealing product displays, and support the client experience on the sales floor. The Operations Manager ensures smooth, efficient, and compliant stockroom operations. This is a temporary full-time role from the date of hire through December 31, 2026, based at Bloomingdale’s Stanford with support to the Valley Fair location as needed.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with Saturdays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • People
    • Build rapport with the team, fostering excellent teamwork and integration with integrity and respect.
    • Instruct and adapt to differing people and situations.
    • Partner with Bloomingdale’s support teams to ensure effective cooperation and communication among stock team members and customers, aligning with GOTFAT principles.
    • Encourage the stock team to work with enthusiasm and at a fast pace to support store performance.
    • Champion training and standards within the team, providing performance feedback to Bloomingdale’s management.
    • Develop others, monitor and evaluate performance, and communicate observations to management.
    • Display personal motivation to inspire and set examples for the team.
    • Effectively communicate with Ted and Bloomingdale’s management teams, providing task feedback and highlighting issues.
    • Demonstrate excellent time management, planning, and organization skills.
    • Drive and document personal learning to contribute to team and location success.
    • Establish, maintain, and develop relationships with the General Manager, District Manager, and relevant teams.
  • Product
    • Display excellent product knowledge as outlined in Ted’s trainings (e.g., the 6C’s).
    • Use available tools to stay updated on key fashion trends and customer reactions.
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of stock KPIs such as depth, weeks cover, overstock, and best & slow sellers to manage stockholding effectively.
    • Maintain a high level of personal presentation to reflect the brand.
  • Commercial
    • Understand store performance and how stock handling impacts it.
    • Ensure speed and efficiency in daily stockroom tasks to enhance location standards and success.
    • Oversee thorough and systematic replenishment of the sales floor and fulfill stock requests from the team and customers.
    • Partner with the General Manager to create an effective sales environment through understanding clientele and shopping behaviors.
    • Interpret location figures to support the achievement of targets and KPIs.
    • Build and maintain commercial awareness of competitors and local markets, communicating findings to the management team.
  • Operations
    • Ensure all operational procedures are carried out as outlined and completed by set deadlines.
    • Implement clear and organized routines, suggesting improvements when necessary.
    • Process all deliveries and transfers in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Implement stock administration routines and support accurate recording and processing of stock movements.
    • Drive successful preparation, processing, and results of store inventories, achieving and improving stock KPI expectations.
    • Partner with Ted’s management teams to prepare for sales, events, and transfers per stockroom guidelines.
    • Support the Ted management team in executing all communications, particularly back-of-house and stock directives.
    • Manage housekeeping procedures, including supply orders, archiving, and filing systems.
    • Proactively complete and delegate tasks correctly and on time, following company and host policies.
    • Maintain immaculate stockroom and back-of-house standards to represent the brand at its highest level.
    • Adhere to and support all company health and safety procedures, using equipment properly and reporting unsafe conditions.
    • Serve as the point of contact for all stockroom areas.
    • Follow and enforce all loss prevention measures, reporting misuse or theft of company property to management.

Requirements

  • Experience as a stock associate, stock supervisor, or in a similar retail role, preferably in fashion.
  • Experience working with Union team members is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and develop effective strategies.
  • Knowledge of visual merchandising and inventory management.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The role is performed in a fast-paced, customer-facing retail environment with varying noise levels, including periods of high noise. Responsibilities include:

  • Walking and standing for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling, feeling, pushing, and reaching for products.
  • Typing and manipulating electronic systems.
  • Regular communication with customers, staff, and third parties, including speaking and listening.
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as necessary.
  • Lifting, pulling, pushing, and/or moving up to 40 pounds.
  • Close and distance vision abilities for electronic systems and physical products.
  • Flexibility to adapt to dynamic changes in pace and activity level.
