About the role
The City of North Myrtle Beach seeks a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead the Streets & Drainage Division. This role involves overseeing the operation, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and construction of the city's transportation and stormwater infrastructure systems.
Responsibilities
- Motivates, mentors, and develops employees while fostering a positive, high-performing workplace culture.
- Manages multiple projects, programs, personnel, and resources while maintaining service quality and operational efficiency.
- Communicates effectively with employees, elected officials, contractors, developers, regulatory agencies, and the public.
- Utilizes GIS, CMMS, asset management software, work-order systems, and other public works technologies.
- Leads personnel and coordinates operational activities during emergency response and disaster recovery situations.
- Provides technical information, recommendations, and project updates to City leadership, boards, commissions, and the public.
- Coordinates with City departments, utilities, contractors, consultants, developers, state and federal agencies, and regional partners on infrastructure projects and operational initiatives.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, Environmental Science, Transportation Infrastructure Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in public works, transportation, stormwater, construction, or infrastructure operations, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.
- Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate various machinery and exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty-five pounds of force frequently, and/or up to ten pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI Certification).
- Certified Stormwater Plan Reviewer (CSPR Certification).
