About the Role
The Outbound Manager manages and coordinates the outbound logistics of an individual client location under the supervision of the General Manager. They partner with motor carriers to maintain client capacity, conduct operational analyses, and audit current outbound procedures to improve efficiency and client satisfaction. This role supervises a team of Assistant Outbound Managers and Operations Coordinators.
Responsibilities
- Consistently meet and exceed client service goals
- Drive, maintain, and evangelize the Company culture, purpose, and core beliefs through hands-on training, effective onboarding, and selection of new Extra Milers
- Oversee daily outbound operations, ensuring compliance with company, client, local, state, and federal policies and regulations
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation of the location
- Oversee and ensure accountability for weekly operator settlements, including back charge processes and supplementation assessments
- Supervise personnel, including work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and motivation
- Maintain a professional appearance and set an example for employees
- Conduct daily stand-ups with service providers and teams, ensuring performance rankings are accurate and updated daily
- Interpret and share location KPIs with key stakeholders
- Partner with motor carriers to facilitate compliance and capacity for the client
- Supervise the motor carrier check-in process at the start of each day
- Advise Extra Milers on safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, and grievances
- Ensure employees and supervisors comply with company policies in a fair and equitable manner
- Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively; take corrective action as necessary
- Maintain the upkeep and maintenance of all assigned assets, both from RLX and the client
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Non-Essential Duties
- Communicate with motor carriers to ensure compliance
- Coordinate with other departments on updates and meetings
- Interview and recruit for Riverstone staff
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required (Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience strongly preferred)
- 2-4 years of distribution and/or supply chain operations experience, with at least 2 years of managerial experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
- Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exhibit a professional demeanor when dealing with conflict
- Ability to coach and develop employees
- Reliable transportation to commute to the workplace and attend client meetings, which may involve traveling within the region
