About the role

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a dairy operation seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee herd health, milk production, animal welfare, employees, and daily farm operations. This hands‑on leadership position maintains a healthy, high‑producing registered Holstein herd while improving production, reproduction, milk quality, and overall operational efficiency. The role is based in Rhode Island (Job ID: KH-11492).

Responsibilities

• Oversee herd health and reproduction programs
• Manage calf and young stock care
• Maintain herd recordkeeping
• Monitor feed utilization
• Handle staffing and scheduling
• Conduct employee training
• Manage inventory
• Maintain and ensure functionality of farm equipment and facilities
• Monitor key herd performance measures and identify improvement opportunities
• Collaborate with veterinarians, nutritionists, and management to achieve production and herd health goals
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership, set clear expectations, and promote a culture of animal care, safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial dairy management experience
• Strong knowledge of herd health, reproduction, nutrition, and milk production
• Proven employee management, training, and leadership experience
• Strong herd recordkeeping and data management skills
• Ability to monitor production, reproduction, milk quality, and herd performance
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate farm equipment
• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience
• Valid driver’s license
• AI Certification and herd health training preferred

Pay

Salary range: $85,000 – $120,000 per year (USD).
