Operations Manager, Fleet Services

This position requires a strong leader to manage a fully functioning team, providing leadership to take charge of challenging projects, encourage teamwork, and supply the energy and enthusiasm required to achieve company goals and objectives. The role involves managing accounts directly and through subordinates, developing the fleet and shop team, and conducting business in accordance with the company's mission and vision statements.

Responsibilities
- Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination: observe habits and hazards, pre-plan methods to eliminate hazards, uphold safety as the most important goal, and promote open communication regarding safety concerns
- Profitability Productivity: oversee process improvement, manage fleet operations, achieve minimum productivity requirements, and strive for expected productivity requirements
- Growth: prospect for leads, plan and execute current projects, and develop the branch’s one and three-year plans
- Planning And Monitoring: forecast what is to be done on a weekly basis, analyze and forecast factors that affect results, and develop appropriate programs and strategies
- Problem Solving: troubleshoot fleet problems and take necessary corrective actions
- Operations: work closely with the Director of Operations, lead a team of supervisors and administrators, oversee the acquisition and outfitting of new vehicles, and ensure compliance with company processes
- Employee Satisfaction: provide overall leadership, act as a team player, and provide necessary communication to direct reports
Qualifications
This position requires a decisive leader with a passion for hands-on work in outdoor environments and a strong drive for construction project management work. A high school education is required, and a two-year technical or four-year related degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, meet deadlines and budgets, work on multiple jobs simultaneously, and fulfill all job requirements within a timely fashion. They should be willing and capable of completing personal development plans and have a desire to learn and grow personally and professionally.
Skills And Abilities
- 5-10 years prior experience, preferably in the construction, renewable energy and wind turbine, or the road construction/DOT field
- Knowledge of estimating, scheduling, and budget processes
- Ability to manage risk & profitability successfully
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity
- Highly customer-service oriented, with the ability to create new and maintain current customers
- Ability to effectively utilize basic Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Physical Requirements
The role involves an office and field environment, requiring sitting and standing, with travel to various work sites exposing the employee to outdoor elements, noise, and the need to stand and walk.
