About the Role

The Operations Manager partners with the Branch Manager in supervision of local scheduling and real-time operations to maximize resources. This position focuses on achieving goals in customer satisfaction, productivity, product development, service and quality, schedule adherence, and budget.

  • 60% Operations: Oversee daily activities, delegate duties, coordinate scheduling, and ensure company policy compliance.
  • 20% Safety: Eliminate or control hazardous conditions, manage training, incident reporting, and emergency response development.
  • 20% Technology: Implement and develop efficiencies in system integration and communication with the Plymouth office for existing and future technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily activities of yard supervisors, workers, and drivers.
  • Delegate duties such as material stock and yard upkeep.
  • Coordinate scheduling of deliveries, pickups, and multi-sectional set-ups.
  • Ensure cleaning, repair, and refurbishment standards follow company policy.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees to foster a cooperative and harmonious climate.
  • Maximize employee morale, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Perform supervisory functions to manage assigned personnel effectively.
  • Maintain a qualified staff of employees and contractors.
  • Manage oversight of stock assignment to branches.
  • Issue and track vendor purchase orders.
  • Develop and build relationships with vendors, manage partnership pricing.
  • Recruit and evaluate vendors/contractors for work outside Satellite’s operational capabilities.
  • Manage purchasing and expenses associated with yard and equipment maintenance.
  • Implement best practices for inspections, storage, and inventory levels.
  • Perform inbound inspections and develop Quality Control policy.
  • Maintain truck and vehicle fleet.
  • Plan, organize, direct, audit, and control all safety activities, training, and procedures.
  • Identify potential problems and risks; enact and evaluate contingency plans.
  • Investigate and respond to safety issues; conduct root cause analysis.
  • Assist with new hire orientation and training on safe repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Establish and administer programs for repair, maintenance, delivery, set-up, and freight functions to ensure safety.
  • Partner with leadership to manage the Safety Committee, training, and awareness programs.
  • Promote employee involvement in safety awareness and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely reporting and investigation of all incidents; coordinate return-to-work efforts.
  • Develop emergency response procedures and evacuation plans.
  • Recommend major purchases related to safety requirements.
  • Manage training of all yard personnel and drivers in safety policies.
  • Maintain constant access to email and communication tools.
  • Utilize internet tools for weather updates, mapping, and material orders.
  • Work within NAV to update FA information, issue purchase orders, and manage service tickets.
  • Implement new technology at the branch with Plymouth support.
  • Expand technological efficiencies as presented.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in a related field and 3-5 years of safety and operations management experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience as a fleet manager or in a service/rental/construction-based environment.
  • Experience working with CRM and operations programs.
  • Knowledge of modular buildings is helpful but not required.
  • Experience in a customer service-based environment.

  • Proven effective supervisory skills.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience providing safety and operational support to remote-based employees (highly desirable).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Computer skills and average typing speed of 38 words per minute.
  • Basic knowledge of an income statement.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices and/or contracting of subcontractors.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues and resolve them quickly in an ethical manner.

Physical/Mental Demands

  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Physical and mental ability to operate company vehicles and associated equipment.
  • Perform rigorous outdoor and indoor duties including walking, standing, climbing, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, sitting, lifting, grasping, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 125 pounds.
  • Good fine motor skills, coordination, range of motion, and grip strength.
  • Ability to work in all climate conditions.
  • Ability to be exposed to loud noise levels.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in environments containing dirt, grease, and dust.
  • Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to hold air impact tools up to 30 pounds.
