About the role

The Operations Manager exercises leadership by managing all aspects of daily operations of the Boston Living Center, a non-residential community center/resource program in Boston's Back Bay for individuals living with chronic health conditions (e.g. HIV/AIDS), substance use disorder, those experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and/or those at risk of experiencing street-based trauma.

Reporting to the Program Director, this position supervises the Harm Reduction Coordinator, Receptionist, and Peer Advocate, tasked with supporting an inclusive, compliant milieu. The role is responsible for cultivating a safe, welcoming, trauma-informed, and relationship-centered environment where members can access services with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.’s Standards of Excellence & Philosophy of care, maintaining professional ethics, boundaries, and client confidentiality while working from a strength-based approach.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for all aspects of site and program operations, ensuring compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Supervise, direct, train, and evaluate the Harm Reduction Coordinator, Receptionist, and Peer Advocates, including providing weekly supervision.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage, with oversight during peak activity periods such as breakfast, lunch, and member events.
  • Oversee the provision of harm reduction, transportation, clothing, and basic necessities, including procurement, organization, storage, and distribution of program supplies in compliance with local and state requirements.
  • Lead external outreach campaigns, including developing outreach plans, strategies, and materials, and executing accessible, on-the-ground outreach in public settings (e.g., street outreach, community meetings, tabling at events, multilingual materials).
  • Lead member engagement activities, provide navigational assistance, resolve conflicts, facilitate warm referrals, and maintain a welcoming, dignified environment.
  • Manage all elements of site operations, including cleaning, maintenance, inventory, procurement, distribution, transportation, and serving as the program’s designated ADA accessibility coordinator.
  • Coordinate the implementation of workshops, groups, and events in conjunction with the Social Services Manager, and support peer support group curriculums aligned with evidence-based practices.
  • Ensure the timely collection, accuracy, and integrity of all data related to member utilization of programs and services; coordinate external and internal resources for members as needed.
  • Address member issues in consultation with the Program Director and collaborate on policy, procedure, and practice development or enhancement.
  • Spearhead special events for members and provide staffing support for activities, including meals programs, social events, and workshops.
  • Develop and maintain service linkages to support the program, including building relationships with local service providers.
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings with the Program Director.
  • Represent the program in the community, attend staff meetings, in-service training, agency workshops, and represent the agency at events (e.g., State House rallies, fundraising, advocacy, HIV/AIDS rallies).
  • Perform additional duties as requested by your supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in community development, public health, human services, or a relevant field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a dynamic, fast-paced community setting serving clients of varying ages, abilities, and interests.
  • Experience with high-acuity populations, particularly in homelessness prevention, outreach, and/or human service settings.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Must be CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire).
  • Completed TB screening (may be obtained upon hire).
  • Three work-related professional references; at least two from a manager or supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish (strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and the Principles of Harm Reduction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in multicultural settings with diverse client groups.
  • Experience working with diverse and disenfranchised populations in a community/milieu setting.

Schedule

Full-time (40 hours), Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM. This position is classified as exempt.

Pay

$65,000 annually.
