Operations Manager
SMS is seeking an Operations Manager to support our Base Infrastructure (BIM) contract at McConnell AFB, KS. This role manages IT operations and service delivery functions, providing leadership for operational processes, service management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position oversees day-to-day IT operations, ensuring effective service delivery and performance for our federal customers. SMS is headquartered in McLean, Virginia, with offices and on-site operations at customer locations throughout the United States.
Responsibilities
- Manage IT operations and service delivery functions, providing leadership for operational processes, service management, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations including incident management, change management, and problem management processes
- Manage operational teams ensuring effective service delivery and performance
- Implement ITIL service management frameworks and Defense Enterprise Service Management processes
- Coordinate operational activities across Network Operations Center, field support teams, and engineering functions
- Manage operational metrics, reporting, and performance dashboards
- Lead process improvement initiatives enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness
- Coordinate with program management for operational planning and resource allocation
- Manage operational budget and expenditure tracking
- Ensure compliance with operational policies, procedures, and standards
- Coordinate crisis response and disaster recovery operations
- Manage vendor and subcontractor operational coordination
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of IT operations management experience
- ITIL Foundation certification required
- PMP or equivalent management certification preferred
- DoD Secret security clearance required
