Operations Manager
About the role
Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is a world leader in maintenance management, providing a diverse range of facility and highway infrastructure, consulting, maintenance and management services. We are seeking a full-time Operations Manager to perform and oversee highway maintenance operations in the Dallas, TX area.
This position requires performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance, including debris removal, highway lighting, structure maintenance, vegetation management, street sweeping, guardrail repair, and more. Adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Jorgensen company policies and procedures, is required.
Responsibilities
The Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day operations, including understanding scope of services, contract requirements, organizational structure, staffing, work plans, budgets, fleet management, vendor management, reporting, inventory, quality control, training, and continuous improvement.
- Manage key financial indicators along with Project Manager; demonstrate improvement against budget and prior periods
- Lead by example, ensuring professionalism, responsiveness, and quality in all business conduct, and instill these values throughout the organization
- Collaborate with Project & Regional Managers to address client issues, develop action plans, and enhance operational efficiency
- Recruit, develop, retain, and reward talented workforce, while ensuring compliance with standards and specifications
- Conduct career evaluations for direct reports and field staff
- Responsible for weekly planning and scheduling of work
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of industry-related experience
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Earth
- Strong leadership qualities; must have experience in overseeing, directing, and leading construction crews
- Strong organizational skills for scheduling & work planning as well as oversight of maintenance crews to ensure work execution/completion
- Traffic Control experience
Preferred experience includes being bilingual (English/Spanish), having experience with projects using TXDOT standard specifications, and possessing a CDL with a clean driving record.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Maintain company standards for background checks (i.e. criminal record, driving record, and controlled substance/drug testing)
- Operating and maintaining company vehicles and equipment
- Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
- Carry out arithmetic functions
- Maintain proper safety equipment required for each job
- Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology
- Ability to use smartphone and applications
- Ability to adjust to changing work schedule
- Ability to work safely under ranging environmental and weather conditions
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds; strenuous manual labor may be required
- Ability to operate hand/power tools

Pay and Schedule
Salary depends on experience, licenses, and certifications. The schedule is full-time, with a typical schedule of Monday-Friday, 7AM-5:30PM, but must be flexible and work varying schedules.
