Operations Manager
This role requires minimal travel and involves a combination of standard office-based work and field exposure in manufacturing environments.
About the Role
The Operations Manager will join the site leadership team with responsibility for translating customer demand into safe, efficient, high-quality production. This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced leader who can lead people, processes, and drive execution across complex operations.
The Operations Manager leads and coordinates day-to-day facility operations, with responsibility for production execution, capacity planning, manufacturing engineering, workforce coordination, and operational performance. Reporting to the General Manager, this leader ensures production schedules and customer requirements are translated into executable work plans and completed safely, on time, to specification, and within budget. Working across production, engineering, supply chain, HR, and site leadership, the Operations Manager will establish operating discipline, resolve production constraints, develop teams, and drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Operations & Production
- Lead day-to-day operations across fabrication, coating, insulation, and related production activities.
- Oversee execution of work orders and production schedules to ensure customer requirements are met safely, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials required to achieve production targets.
- Monitor production output against plans and proactively address capacity constraints, bottlenecks, scheduling risks, and other operational issues.
- Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements and support corporate HSE targets and initiatives.
- Maintain appropriate operational and quality controls to ensure materials and completed work meet required specifications.
- Lead the implementation and sustainment of manufacturing best practices, including 5S.
- Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead, motivate, and support teams to achieve objectives while promoting accountability, development, and strong morale.
- Establish clear expectations and priorities for departments and employees based on production.
- Address concerns, complaints, and grievances appropriately within a unionized environment.
- Planning, Performance & Business Operations
- Establish and monitor operating systems, processes, and key performance metrics that provide visibility into performance, progress, and obstacles.
- Partner with management on budgeting, forecasting, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
- Manage supply chain and logistics to support manufacturing, improve efficiency, and control costs.
- Build effective relationships with department leaders, external partners, and vendors to support operational requirements and strategic goals.
- Supervision & Professional Development
- Reports to the General Manager – USA and leads the Production Manager, Plant Capacity Planner, and Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
- Provides broad exposure to manufacturing leadership, production and capacity planning, engineering, supply chain, HSE, budgeting, workforce management, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; diploma in a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience as an operations leader, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Direct working knowledge of manufacturing operations, production workflow, capacity planning, and supply chain management.
- Pipe coating, insulation, and/or pipe fabrication experience preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise leading diverse teams toward safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance objectives.
- Knowledge of manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement practices, including 5S.
- Knowledge of local and federal regulations and ordinances applicable to the operating environment; experience working within a unionized environment is beneficial.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of operational functions including production, finance, customer service, supply chain, and employee management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret production data, identify issues, and translate findings into action.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work safely within an industrial manufacturing environment and lift at least 50 pounds as required by the position.
- Additional hours and 24/7 availability may be required based on operational needs.
Pay
$150k - $175k Base Salary, 20% Bonus
