About the role
The Operations Manager oversees the plant's processing performance, focusing on safety, quality, service, and efficiency. They lead the team in achieving these goals through Best Manufacturing Practices.
Responsibilities
- Improve plant processing performance to sustained levels of safety, quality, service, and efficiency using Best Manufacturing Practices.
- Prepare and manage product and employee schedules to optimize results and costs.
- Create and manage the production budget.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through vendor sourcing, production methodologies, technical system enhancements, and training.
- Partner with quality and engineering staff to enhance end product quality.
- Provide coaching, training, staffing, and performance management for direct subordinates, fostering development opportunities for succession planning.
- Analyze and formulate strategies based on production-related data.
- Lead and maintain a safe production environment by ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
- Identify and recommend capital improvement projects for enhanced revenue.
- Partner with other management staff to resolve customer concerns and quality issues.
- Communicate and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to ensure high-quality and effective products and services.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in a related field of study.
- 7 to 10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
- Exceptional leadership skills to support a Purpose-Driven culture.
- A strong business acumen in strategic planning for enhanced profitability.
- A working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma, along with 5S.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
