About the role
Gus Anastopoulo Law Firm is a growing plaintiff personal injury firm. Our attorneys represent seriously injured people across South Carolina. This role runs the business behind that work, working directly with the firm's owner. The firm is growing, and the scope of this seat grows with it. This role fits someone who has already run operations—whether you trained in corporate operations and want real scope, or you ran the whole back office of a smaller company. Law firm experience is a plus, not a requirement.
Responsibilities
Financial operations
- Track the firm's monthly performance, including settlements, revenue, marketing spend, and financials, and prepare the reporting that drives projections and decisions
- Manage accounts payable and coordinate monthly with our CPA
- Process marketing invoices and keep marketing vendors on schedule
People and office
- Supervise the firm's administrative staff and keep the office running day to day
- Administer benefits and onboard new hires
- Screen resumes and manage first-round logistics for non-attorney hires
Vendors, facilities, and compliance
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and hold vendors to price, terms, and schedule
- Manage software subscriptions, phones, and the IT vendor relationship
- Track and renew firm insurance policies, business licenses, and registrations
- Manage office facilities
Owner support and firm cadence
- Run the owner's calendar, screen meeting and vendor requests, and take the ones that do not need him, so his time stays on cases and growth
- Coordinate the firm's staff meetings, prepare agendas, and drive follow-up on action items
Systems
- Update and enhance the firm's operating procedures so the firm scales without breaking
Requirements
- Proven experience running business operations and supervising staff
- Financial fluency: you read a P&L, track a budget, and spot the number that is off
- QuickBooks proficiency, fast adoption of new software, and daily comfort with AI tools
- Effective vendor negotiation on price and terms
- Organization that does not need chasing: you track deadlines, renewals, and open items on your own
- Judgment and candor: when something is off, you say so, even when the idea came from the owner
- Ownership: when something breaks, you fix it and make sure it cannot break the same way twice
Preferred Experience
- Law firm operations, especially in a plaintiff personal injury practice
- Supporting a founder or managing partner directly
