About the Role

This leader will be hands-on in a start-up environment, building and maintaining relationships with hourly associates, managers, carrier partners, vendors, other fulfillment center teams, and various departments in the company. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, embraces change, and enjoys diving into details to drive daily improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead inbound and outbound activities for the fulfillment center, including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping across two shifts.
  • Guide and ensure a healthy and safe work environment for associates on the outbound team.
  • Direct warehouse supervisory personnel to achieve objectives, ensuring timely fulfillment of customer orders while maintaining high on-time shipment rates and low shipment defects.
  • Monitor and ensure all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are on target, such as warehouse misses, on-time shipments, shipment defects, aged tasks, production levels per hour, and cost per order line.
  • Engage and lead a team of Area Managers and Operations Leads.
  • Drive planning and forecasting initiatives.
  • Leverage Area Managers to source ideas and create improvement plans for the functional area.
  • Mentor, train, and develop Area Managers for career progression.
  • Develop and share standard processes across shifts and the network.
  • Build a positive, multifaceted team that encourages all employees to guide and motivate change, adapt to dynamic business needs, and stay focused on the customer experience.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and delivery while expanding capabilities within the warehouse.
  • Use the site Warehouse Management System (WMS) to optimize order fulfillment and provide operational insights to improve WMS effectiveness.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or comparable experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience in fulfillment center or warehouse operations; retail or e-commerce experience preferred.
  • At least 4 years of management experience in Receiving, Inventory Control, and/or Order Fulfillment.
  • At least 4 years of experience leading large groups of hourly employees.
  • Experience building or improving inventory management, order management, and warehouse management systems and processes.
  • Passion for working in a start-up environment with high levels of ambiguity and change.
  • Strong project management and continuous improvement skills.
  • Metrics-driven mindset with a focus on customer service and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills for employees, direct reports, cross-functional teams, and executive leadership.
  • Proven ability to quickly adapt and drive results using data.
  • Highest levels of integrity and ethics.
  • Flexibility to work weekends.
  • Position may require travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • E-commerce experience.
  • Certification and/or experience in Lean Six Sigma and/or Green Belt certification.
