About the role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations, you will direct and supervise a team of Hydro Technicians and Station Operators responsible for the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of hydroelectric facilities and associated equipment. Your leadership will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable energy production in compliance with operational and regulatory requirements across multiple facilities.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, direct, coordinate, and supervise maintenance and operating personnel to ensure continuity of operations.
- Train subordinates in best maintenance practices, health, safety, security, environmental compliance, and proper power plant and dam operating techniques.
- Execute and comply with company policies and procedures, emphasizing safety and environmental requirements.
- Direct personnel in response to plant emergencies, special safety procedures, and operations-related activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations and labor agreements.
- Manage small to medium-sized maintenance and construction projects, which may include contract personnel or contractors.
- Travel offsite throughout the New York Region as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Operations Manager.
Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of safe operating procedures, accident prevention rules, OSHA regulations, company policies, and organizational practices.
- Knowledge of hydroelectric operations, maintenance, construction, and environmental regulations.
- Working knowledge of effective maintenance planning methodologies, preventive and predictive maintenance practices, and troubleshooting/failure analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication and administrative skills.
- Proficiency or experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience, including a strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering design related to large rotating machinery and hydroelectric generation equipment.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience, preferably including supervision of trades personnel and contractors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Pay
$100,000–$140,000 per year, with a specified bonus.
