The Operations Manager ensures our school's operations run smoothly, serving as the backbone to daily activities. This role combines a passion for detail with a commitment to social justice, focusing on facilities management, staff supervision, vendor relations, and community engagement to support our mission of preparing every child for college and a career of their choice.

Responsibilities
- Facilities Management & Oversight:
- Oversee day-to-day upkeep of school campuses in compliance with regulations and codes, delegating tasks to contractors or internal staff.
- Serve as primary coordinator and communicator to ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues.
- Lead long-term facility retrofits and improvements in coordination with the Director of Operations.
- Act as primary field response to urgent and emergency situations.
- Coordinate and manage all building usage requests, including internal and external scheduling.
- Serve as point of contact for outside vendors during onsite work, occasionally required on weekends or non-school hours.
- Manage and place furniture/materials orders for facility and classroom maintenance.
- Oversee distribution and tracking of keys, parking fobs, and staff access.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly facility walkthroughs to identify compliance issues or areas needing attention.
- Develop project and facility management processes and procedures, including District Facilities Standards.
- Create ongoing maintenance schedules and preventative maintenance programs.
- Conduct surveys, collect data, and prepare reports on maintenance and operations needs.
- Event Coordination: Serve as point of contact and manage all approvals and planning for internal and external events.
- Campus Safety Oversight:
- Emergency Coordinator: Oversee emergency preparation processes, maintain safety plans, and serve as Site Commander during emergencies or drills.
- Campus Safety and Supervision Coordination: Set expectations and hold the school site team accountable for supervision and safety in alignment with the Campus Safety Plan.
- Operations Safety Training: Provide regular safety trainings, conduct routine safety audits, and serve on the LCPS Safety Committee.
- Drive traffic safety campaigns to ensure compliance and safety for all stakeholders.
- Direct the school-contracted security team and monitor alarm calls.
- Staff Supervision & Vendor Management:
- Hire, supervise, train, coordinate, coach, and support AM custodians, Operations Associates, and Facilities Associate across both campuses.
- Conduct weekly team and individual meetings, and regular evaluations to assess performance and support needs.
- Manage disciplinary and performance measures for all supervisees.
- Serve as point of contact for contracted services (custodial and maintenance vendors) to ensure contractual obligations are met or exceeded.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, conduct performance evaluations, and monitor expenditures for cost savings.
- Front Office Management:
- Act as point of contact for scheduling and coordinating coverage for front office staff in the absence of the office manager.
- Ensure front office staff adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Regularly meet with site administrators and program leaders to coordinate operational needs and review protocols/policies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align norms and processes related to student safety and expectations.
- Oversee and send out the weekly staff communication newsletter.
- Model highly responsive and customer service-oriented communication with all stakeholders.
- Community Relations: Serve as a face of the campus to external and internal stakeholders, addressing issues related to campus usage, traffic, security, and safety.
- Data and Project Management:
- Monthly tracking and reporting of site facilities and operations.
- Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Monitor project risks, implement mitigation strategies, and conduct regular status meetings.
Qualifications
- A.A. or equivalent required; B.A. or B.S. preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish, required.
- 2+ years experience in office or facilities management or related position.
- 2+ years experience in managing others or leading teams, highly preferred.
- Ability to perform complex professional planning work with minimal supervision and meet urgent schedules.
- Experience working in schools or with youth and families, preferred.
- Proficiency with Google Apps.
Environmental Requirements
- Ability to work in loud environments such as cafeterias, playgrounds, classrooms, and large professional settings.
- Adaptability to indoor/outdoor conditions, including all weather conditions for outdoor activities or travel.
- Work in air-conditioned and heated environments under fluorescent lighting.
Physical Demands

Schedule
This is a 12-month full-time exempt position with an immediate start date. The role requires minimum building hours of Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with availability for off-hour responses related to facility or team needs. Occasional weekend/evening hours are required for events, registration meetings, or facility work during non-school hours.
Pay
Starting salary range: $52,500–$65,000 depending on experience.
