Operations & Maintenance - Damage Prevention (O&M D)

Based at Freeman Station, Missouri, this position plays a critical role in protecting pipeline assets from third-party damage through field-based Right-of-Way (ROW) oversight, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will support pipeline operations across an assigned territory spanning approximately a 250-mile radius from Freeman Station, with occasional travel beyond the designated area. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Freeman Station and be comfortable with extensive travel, as this position requires approximately 75% or more travel.

Responsibilities

• Follow all health, safety, security, environmental (HSSE), operational, and maintenance practices and procedures.

• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary, including emergency call-outs.
• Complete all training and qualification requirements within the stated timeframe of the BP Pipelines OMD Training Program.
• Perform pipeline identification, location, and marking using electronic locators and probes.
• Provide Asset Operational (AO) Permitting on ROW work and routinely monitor work locations.
• Inspect pipelines for leaks, replace damaged markers, and check for irregularities (by vehicle and foot).
• Inspect abnormal right-of-way conditions and perform occasional hand digging, manual probing, and walking rough terrain.
• Monitor excavation activities over/near the pipeline and act as a liaison with utilities, municipalities, property owners, excavators, and third parties.
• Recognize third-party scope of work and protect the pipeline accordingly.
• Attend Public Awareness & Education meetings and monitor notifications for conflicts.
• Check aerial reports and deliver mapping data collection using drones and sub-meter GPS.
• Run inspections for right-of-way clearing and update Digital Mapping Applications.
• Collect and update attributes and feature types using digital Mapping GIS programs.
• Document and support removal of pipeline encroachments.
• Support internal line inspection (ILI) tool runs, as assigned.
• Maintain equipment in good working condition and conduct right-of-way maintenance activities (e.g., install gates, replace strain gauges, clear access roads).
• Prepare “as-built” drawings of foreign line crossings and other construction activities.
• Complete Inspection & Repair reports, Foreign Line Crossing reports, and others as needed.
• Acquire a license to fly drones.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
• ROW and/or Line Locating Experience.
• Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
• Valid Driver’s License with a commitment to driving safety.
• Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card) if required.
• Must reside within 50 miles of Freeman Station, Missouri.
• Comfort with extensive travel (75% or more).
• Commitment to learning new skills and completing the O&M D training curriculum within the outlined timeframe.

Additional Competencies & Experience

• Ability to read maps, alignment sheets, construction drawings, and complete alignment sheets.
• Underground construction experience and knowledge (preferred but not required).
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment as assigned.
• Conduct and document DOT equipment inspections.
• Proficiency in MAXIMO, Utilisphere, CBT, MS Office, and other applications.
• Meet all DOT requirements, including Operator Qualifications.
• Participate in emergency response training (e.g., Hazwoper, RCRA, respiratory).
• Computer skills, including MS Office Suites.

Pay

New hires start at an hourly rate of $35.34. The rate incrementally increases to $47.60 upon optimal completion of the O&M Skills Training curriculum (approximately 24 months from the employment start date).

Schedule

• Overtime required, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs.
