About the role

The Operations Lead plays a critical leadership role in the Atlanta Community Food Bank's mission to fight hunger by coordinating and overseeing the daily activities of the Protein Repack operation. This position provides frontline leadership to a team responsible for safely and efficiently repacking frozen protein products for distribution to partner agencies and families in need.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and participate in daily protein repack activities, including sorting, portioning, labeling, packaging, and distribution of poultry and other protein products.
  • Assist in directing workflow, prioritizing production activities, and supporting the achievement of daily operational goals.
  • Serve as a backup to the Supervisor by providing day-to-day guidance to team members, addressing routine operational issues, and supporting staff training and onboarding.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move products and inventory throughout the facility.
  • Quality & Safety
    • Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, HACCP, GMP, and workplace safety standards while working in refrigerated and frozen environments.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area and ensure products meet established quality requirements.
    • Support inventory control processes, including product tracking, inventory accuracy, and the timely communication of equipment, product, or operational concerns.
    • Identify and support opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and overall operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (English / Spanish).
  • Previous warehouse, food handling, or production experience a plus (not required).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Dependable and punctual, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes.

Qualifications

  • Employee is routinely required to lift 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs as part of daily work.
  • Ability to work in cold or frozen environments for extended periods.
