Operations Lead - 1st shift

About the role

This is a working lead position on the 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm) responsible for supervising the team to meet daily production and safety goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily production and safety meetings.
• Ensure 100% safety and cleanliness of the shop.
• Hold the team accountable to daily/monthly production goals and quality standards.
• Work from the schedule provided by the Production Manager and hit targets.
• Move raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products safely between departments.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other material-handling equipment per safety requirements.
• Monitor material locations and report shortages, damage, or discrepancies.
• Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks safely.
• Verify incoming materials and outgoing shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and bills of lading.
• Empty metal scrap, trash, and designated dumpsters; ensure correct placement of scrap materials.
• Maintain clean and safe aisles, loading areas, staging areas, and outdoor waste areas.
• Work with Quality to report defects and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead by example with a strong work ethic.

Skills and Qualifications

• Proficiency with basic hand tools: drills, drivers, tape measures.
• Leadership ability and accountability for team performance.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Self-motivated; able to stay on task without constant supervision.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs frequently.
• Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
• Forklift certified.
