About the role

Aginsky Capital Group is a boutique investment and asset management firm in Portland doing small-to-mid-market M&A. You will work directly with the people making the decisions. There is no analyst layer between you and the principals. There is also no training program, no rotation calendar, and no one who will tell you what to do every morning.

What you will actually do

  • Work full-cycle on a private equity roll-up in the facilities maintenance space: sourcing targets, building the model, sitting in on diligence calls, reading QoE.
  • Handle property management for the Montavilla food cart pod — talk to the operators, chase rent, fix the things that are broken — plus market research and business development for the pod (montavillafoodcarts.com).
  • Find and research business development avenues for Atlas Facilities Maintenance and ABDM — build the list, write the email, make the call.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for Atlas and ABDM in accounting, marketing, procurement, HR, and operations.
  • Assist in launching a new business bringing high-quality, tasty food right to your building (freshbites.co).
  • Analyze financials: from forensic accounting to building projections. Some of this is data entry that nobody else wants to do.
  • Identify and gather information on potential M&A targets.
  • Pitch us something. Past interns have brought us projects we funded and shipped. That is the highest-leverage thing you can do here.
  • And much more.

The parts people do not like

  • Real ambiguity. You will get a one-line prompt and be expected to come back with an answer, not questions.
  • Real grunt work. If “collecting rent from food cart tenants” is beneath you, do not apply.
  • Small firm. No brand name on your resume that a recruiter will recognize.
  • We give direct feedback fast. Some people find it abrasive.

Requirements

  • College senior, recent grad, or grad student. Business, finance, econ, accounting, marketing, or CS.
  • In-person in Portland, Oregon. Some remote flexibility, but the food cart pod and the operating companies are here, and so are we. No relocation stipend.
  • Full-time preferred; 20+ hrs/week considered with flexible scheduling.
  • Start date: immediately.

What is in it for you

  • Valuable hands-on experience across multiple business areas.
  • A monthly stipend, tailored to your experience level.
  • Substantial performance-oriented bonuses based on project outcomes, not a discretionary pool.
  • Unparalleled learning opportunity working directly with top management.
  • Exposure to diverse aspects of business operations and strategy.
  • A platform to pitch and pursue your own ideas and projects.
  • The chance to discover your strengths and interests across different business roles.
  • Practical skills in finance, marketing, operations, and more.
  • Potential for full-time employment after the internship. If you do not want to stay, we will actively help you land elsewhere — that is not a throwaway line; ask our alumni.
