About the role
The Dayton Convention Center (DCC) is the region's premier mid-sized event facility, located in downtown Dayton. Managed by ASM Global and owned by the Montgomery County Convention Facilities Authority, the DCC is undergoing a major renovation to enhance its status as the venue of choice for the region.
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of the setup and conversion process in preparation for events, including setting up and removing tables, chairs, operable walls, barricades, stages, flooring, furnishings, and equipment.
- Ensure the day-to-day operations of the facility are met by performing various duties such as loading/unloading delivery trucks, transporting trash and recycling, and replenishing supplies.
- Assist with pre/post event cleaning and janitorial tasks, including sanitizing and disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, and sorting materials.
- Perform light maintenance tasks such as painting and patching.
- Report irregularities, discrepancies, damage, and loss of property and safety concerns promptly to supervisor.
- Use appropriate equipment and supplies to clean and maintain the facility.
- Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set up & conversion, typical methods and techniques for cleaning and maintaining the facility.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, and patrons.
- Follow all policies/procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules, regulations, and emergency procedures established at the facility.
- Meet the physical demand of the job, including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing.
- Communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
- Work independently, exercise judgment and initiative, organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedules.
- Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
Qualifications
- Six months or more related experience preferred.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Must be able to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands
- Regularly move around the facility; stand for long hours during events; talk and hear.
- Perform work through repetitive hand/eye coordination.
- Lift up to 25 lbs. up to 5 minutes at a time.
- Carry up to 25 lbs. up to 5 minutes at a time.
- Walk extensively; push and/or pull wheeled carts.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Work under adverse indoor/outdoor conditions including extreme heat and cold and exposure to dust, dirt, and cleaning agents.
