Operations Engineer , RSR Start Up
About the role
As an Operations Engineer at Amazon, you will lead and manage the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects, developing and delivering the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. You will play an integral part in planning and implementing facility network infrastructure, including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives. This role involves partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely handover and driving quality, safety, and performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Work independently with internal and external teams to manage the lifecycle of complex projects, acting as the owner to deliver on project objectives and targets.
- Actively participate in engineering reviews, influencing proposed solutions at the system or component level, overall architecture, and facility processes.
- Partner with internal teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines.
- Proactively assess stakeholders’ dependencies and milestones, problem-solve, and drive solutions to mitigate risks.
- Lead and coordinate execution efforts to deliver systems and automated equipment designs per established standards and guidelines, including installation, throughput, and safety qualifications.
- Simplify, optimize, and remove bottlenecks while resolving difficult system problems or technical deficiencies.
- Lead effective meetings by setting objectives, driving detailed discussions, and ensuring alignment on expectations with internal and external partners.
- Document meeting discussions, decisions, and next steps to ensure accountability and follow-through.
- Communicate project status, risk analysis, and mitigation plans promptly and accurately to leadership and management teams.
- Articulate system and equipment designs, including layouts, technical specifications, and functional capabilities, to internal customers and partner teams.
- Manage change order controls, purchase orders, and invoice validation/approvals efficiently.
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple projects.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance engineering and cross-team efficiencies, optimizing value and delivery.
- Collaborate to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in compressed timeframes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in engineering, including a supervisory role managing people.
- Experience in a fast-paced, automated, industrial, logistics, production, or manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of professional experience.
- Travel up to 80% domestically, with potential for extended periods (e.g., up to three weeks in a row, including weekends).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated equipment, including packaging machinery, sortation, and conveyor systems.
- Experience in preventative maintenance systems.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is:
- USA, AZ, Tempe: $91,800 - $137,700 USD annually
- USA, CO, Denver: $91,800 - $137,700 USD annually
- USA, GA, Atlanta: $91,800 - $137,700 USD annually
- USA, IL, Chicago: $91,800 - $137,700 USD annually
- USA, MN, Minneapolis: $91,800 - $137,700 USD annually
- USA, TX, Irving: $91,800 - $137,700 USD annually
- USA, VA, Arlington: $91,800 - $137,700 USD annually
- USA, WA, Bellevue: $91,800 - $137,700 USD annually
