Operations Dispatcher (Part-Time)

About the role

CDE Lightband is the municipal electric and broadband power provider for the City of Clarksville, offering electric, television, internet, and phone service. The utility serves over 80,000 metered homes and businesses with electric service and over 30,000 customers with broadband services over its Fiber to the Premise Network. The Operations Dispatcher position is part‑time, working a rotating schedule to provide 24/7 customer and electric crew support (approximately 25‑30 hours per week). Rotations cover all evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls, providing customer support and account information.
• Reconnect electric service or establish new electric service for customers via remote electronic access or by dispatching appropriate personnel.
• Initiate, document, and assign work requests to appropriate work crews and meter service personnel.
• Complete and route documentation of work requests.
• Provide communications between work crews and the dispatch center.
• Assign jobs to work crews.
• Communicate with customers regarding routine job requests, service restoration, and emergency reports.
• Route documentation to appropriate departments.
• Record and organize customer information regarding service interruptions and outages.
• Receive and route service calls; coordinate, prioritize, and assign service orders.
• Communicate information between work crews and the dispatch center; determine emergency priorities and dispatch units as necessary.
• Monitor and administer surveillance systems; respond to all alarms and notices as trained while utilizing tools for constant system security and reliability.
• Monitor SCADA system; monitor and administer outage management systems.
• Dispatch appropriate units to specific calls utilizing a radio console; track calls and notify appropriate individuals of situations requiring their attention.
• Maintain operational records and logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned of a similar nature or to assist as needed.
