Operations Director, Youth Residential Program

About the role

Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has since expanded to operate across multiple states including the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care includes prevention, mental health services, and foster care, all of which are trauma-informed and evidence-based.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure programs achieve targeted outcomes/people/financial success through collaboration with leaders.
  • Maintain oversight of data and take necessary actions to improve program outcomes, staff productivity, and finances.
  • Create and model a trauma-informed culture and emotionally intelligent leadership, and drive best practices throughout the organization.
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for the programs under their supervision.
  • Communicate and set the climate through leaders, ensuring leaders have the resources needed for their programs' success.
  • Select, coach, assess, and develop leaders within the organization.
  • Build relationships internally and externally to benefit the organization.
  • Create and cultivate new business opportunities for the organization.
  • Achieve alignment between direct reports’ objectives and the overall business strategy.
  • Continually coach and develop leaders, utilizing performance assessments constructively.
  • Evaluate and balance tasks and resources among teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, mental health, education, or a related field.
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • 5 years of direct experience in residential, mental health, and/or human services, combining direct service and administrative functions.
  • The ability to grow and develop as a leader.
  • A valid driver’s license and meeting any required credentials, licenses, and privileges for the program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent written and oral communication skills.
