About the Role
The Operations Director, Livewell is responsible for the successful launch, operational ramp-up, and long-term performance of Livewell’s de novo veterinary hospitals across an assigned region. This leader serves as both a builder and an operator, overseeing multiple hospital openings, developing Hospital Managers, supporting the recruitment and onboarding of Founding DVMs, and driving strong operational and financial performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operational success of assigned hospitals through pre-opening, startup, stabilization, growth, and transition into the established operating model.
- Oversee a portfolio of hospitals while managing multiple openings simultaneously.
- Drive consistent execution of the Livewell client experience through Livewell Quality Index (LQI) standards, operational audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor hospital performance, operational milestones, key performance indicators, and project timelines.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DEA, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Recruit, hire, develop, coach, and retain a team of Hospital Managers.
- Partner with Clinical Operations and Recruiting to identify, recruit, and support Founding DVMs.
- Lead cross-functional execution of Livewell’s hospital development pipeline, aligning with various departments for successful openings.
- Manage labor, operating expenses, and revenue growth while balancing near-term investment with long-term profitability.
- Develop and improve scalable operational processes, playbooks, and best practices for new hospital openings.
Qualifications
- Multi-site operational leadership experience required; veterinary, healthcare, or multi-unit service industry preferred.
- Proven success leading teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
- Experience recruiting, developing, coaching, and retaining high-performing leaders.
- Strong financial acumen, including budget management and P&L interpretation.
- Exceptional organizational and project-management skills.
- Ability to influence without direct authority and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 75%).
