McKenzie Electric Cooperative (MEC) is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, benefited position providing administrative and clerical support to the Operations Department and Substation & Metering division. This role involves coordinating projects across multiple departments and maintaining regular correspondence with members, vendors, and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Organizes work orders received from engineering.
- Coordinates with electricians as required for job completion.
- Assists with the distribution of meter cans to electricians and members.
- Coordinates deliveries with warehouse personnel and/or suppliers.
- Communicates with necessary staff when jobs will be worked and, when needed, calls members.
- Prepares service orders to energize services.
- Processes service orders for all of operations and completes and/or routes to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Assists with the coordination of annual/routine activities and reporting.
- Charges out material ticket jobs for maintenance.
- Processes electrical wiring certificates.
- Updates member information, work orders, and service order information in the customer information system.
- Provides clerical and administrative support for the Operations Department.
- Coordinates planned outages between Engineering Services, Operations Departments, and front office staff.
- Responds to member, developer, contractor, MEC staff, or electrician questions concerning service installations/inquiries, schedules appointments, receives and processes inspections, and updates computer records as required.
- Researches and responds to general member questions and concerns and directs phone calls to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Responds to requests for underground cable locates, contacts North Dakota One-Call for MEC locates, updates the One-Call database, and coordinates joint trench projects.
- Accumulates and processes data through appropriate reporting methods on a timely basis, including work order activity, outage incidents and restoration information, meter reports, maintenance records, and other Operations activities.
- Analyzes system information to coordinate required work, establish reporting to facilitate work coordination, assist Operations leadership with work scheduling, monitor performance, and address identified issues.
- Provides general administration support, including filing, copying, image scanning, and file management of related documents.
- Provides general administration and coordination support of projects between Engineering Services, Operations, and Accounting Departments as needed.
- Transmits and receives information over the company radio system with other employees in the field.
- Provides information and assistance to members in a manner that projects a favorable public impact for the Cooperative.
- Introduces potential residential and commercial members to the opportunities and benefits of receiving Cooperative services.
- Attends and participates in training programs for improvement of job knowledge, skill, and safety.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or tech school preferred; one to two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Class D driver’s license is required.
- Basic understanding of PC-based Windows software operation.
- Basic spreadsheet and word processing skills.
