About the role
Legends Global is seeking an Operations Coordinator for the Greater Columbus Convention Center. This role assists with the day-to-day operations of the building, supervising set-up, tear-down, and facility management tasks.
Responsibilities
- Supervises set-up and tear-down of meeting rooms, risers, chairs, and stages for events.
- Supervises clean-up of convention or trade show floors, including booth and floor maintenance during events.
- Manages stock and equipment inventory, ensuring upkeep and repair of equipment.
- Performs basic operational duties as a working supervisor.
- Handles hiring steps, including interviewing, new hire paperwork, shift placement, and separation documentation.
- Assists the Manager of Operations with facility management, including directing, supervising, and scheduling all aspects of operations.
- Administers immediate disciplinary actions, including dismissing employees for department violations, and coordinates with HR on disciplinary matters.
- Interacts with guests in a friendly, courteous, and polite manner, offering assistance as needed.
- Provides exceptional customer service, understanding the importance of "The Magic is in the Details."
- Performs all other necessary duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of stage, riser, and chair set-up for varied events.
- Previous supervisory experience in a convention center atmosphere is a plus.
- Able to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Ability to assess situations and exercise decision-making authority.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
Qualifications
- One to two years of custodial, janitorial, or meeting set-up experience in hotels, hospitals, offices, or event requisition conversion in a commercial facility is preferred.
Skills
- Ability to become familiar with the facility floor plan and all sections of the facility.
- Ability to operate machinery used by the department, such as scrubbers, pallet jacks, chair carts, trash compactors, cardboard balers, and vacuum cleaners/extractors.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
Physical Demands
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions and various cleaning chemicals.
- Extensive walking, heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling, and equipment operation both indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work flexible and irregular hours.
