About the role

Honey from the Rock, Cleveland's foster care closet, was started from a simple mindset: to love our neighbor well. We believe that looks like custom tangible items and support, given without cost, to foster families, kinship caregivers, reunified families, aged-out youth, and caseworkers across Northeast Ohio. We joyfully serve all people with dignity and respect, regardless of race, ability, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, family structure, socioeconomic status, or background.

Honey from the Rock is hiring an Operations Coordinator, a new full-time position and the organization's second paid staff role. This person will support the daily operations that make our work possible, including front-office administration, volunteer coordination, tracking systems, and on-site hospitality for families, volunteers, donors, and community partners. The right candidate is warm, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a rapidly growing nonprofit.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a welcoming point of contact for phone calls, emails, visitors, families, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
  • Support donor communication, data entry, thank-you notes, check deposits, records management, and general office operations.
  • Build and maintain tracking systems, including but not limited to Google Workspace, Little Green Light, and Mailchimp.
  • Coordinate volunteers during active service hours, including orientation tours, task assignments, and workflow support.
  • Support 50 to 100 volunteers per week and help coordinate group service slots.
  • Provide excellent customer service in high-tension situations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to authentically represent Honey from the Rock and its mission of loving our neighbors well, including strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Strong organization, dependability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy nonprofit environment.
  • Comfort using email, calendars, documents, spreadsheets, and basic tracking systems.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and other online databases, or the ability to quickly become proficient.
  • Ability to work primarily on-site at our Cleveland location.
  • Willingness to complete any required background check and drug testing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit, church, ministry, customer service, administrative, education, or community-facing work.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers, groups, events, or service projects.
  • Familiarity with foster care, kinship care, reunification, or child welfare.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Pay

$38,000 to $42,000 per year at full time, depending on experience.

Benefits

  • Generous PTO, including a mandatory paid one-week office-wide shutdown.
  • Flexible work location at times.

Compensation is limited to the salary and paid time off described above.
