And that’s where you come in. Job Description: Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Operations Control Center (OCC) Supervisor to work on our Honolulu Rail Project. As the successful candidate your ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are welcome. The position is based in Pearl City, HI. Job Summary/Duties: Supervises the monitoring and routine, preventative and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, testing, modification and repair of all equipment associated with electrical power distribution systems and emergency trip station facilities. Assigns duties to personnel by workload priority, giving instructions in proper work methods/techniques; conducts inspections and monitors. Accountabilities: Must be able to work non-scheduled emergency call outs outside of assigned work hoursMonitor and control through OCC workstations Train Controllers, Yard Controllers, Engineering Fault Controllers, Information Controllers and Security ControllersSupervises the Controllers that Monitor and Control through SCADA workstation, remote equipment including but not limited to:Automatic Train Control SystemsElevators and EscalatorsTraction PowerPlatform Screen GatesAuxiliary Station equipment Fire detection systems Access control Train Equipment faultsCCTVMMISPerforms manual intervention and adjustment of train operations as requiredEnsure daily work is conducted in accordance with the applicable regulations, rules, standards and operational procedures related to railway safetyDaily management of control room activities and needsCoordination of planned and unplanned activatesResponsible for providing clear and effective information to the Train Operators and Field StaffResponsible for answering emergency calls from stations, trains and passengersResponsible for populating control room logs and reportsResponsible for understanding and utilizing control room operation policies, restrictions and plansWilling to work flexibly and efficiently in support of the project which may include working shift rotation, nights, weekends and holidaysReading and interpreting plans, specifications and electronic schematics, diagrams and maintenance manualsStaying current on all new technologies introduced into the transit industries as relates to transit railSafely operating a variety of trucks, equipment and toolsPreparing written reports, document defects and repairs on inspection forms, work orders or computer programsContribute to the System Service Availability metrics and compile required reports and analysisMaintaining records and preparing clear and concise reportsReading, understanding and using technical information found in repair manuals, service change bulletins and applicable technical documents, including parts and service manualsWorking independently and safely with AC and DC powerEstablishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of the workSupervise OCC staff in completion of job duties; provide feedback and corrective training as neededPerform rules compliance checks and operational efficiency audits on a monthly basisLead shift briefings for oncoming OCC staffEnsure OCC staff members are fit for duty and current on training requirements prior to starting workHandle shift call outs and schedule changes; arrange shift coverage according to staffing plan and CBA requirements Required Skills/Knowledge: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a rail dispatch, air traffic control or missile control positionsBasic knowledge and understanding of large monitoring and control systems and subsystemsAbility to perform assigned duty in critical situationsTraining in electrical engineering preferred and/or a combination of education and work experience. Desired Skills/Knowledge: Five (5) or more years of experience in train controller or rail dispatch positions3+ years working with high voltage protection and transformation equipment in voltage classes, preferably in power utility field.Experience in fields of cable plant and contact rail inspection, test and maintenance and supervisory experience in a rail electrical field are desirable Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalency certificate. Languages: English fluency Note: In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions. The salary range for this position is $83,300 - $125,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
