Operations Buyer
About the role
The Operations Buyer supports day-to-day purchasing activities to ensure materials and services are available to meet production and operational needs. This role works closely with Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Suppliers to execute purchase orders, track deliveries, and help resolve supply issues. It is an excellent entry point for building a career in supply chain and procurement. This role provides exposure to supplier management, MRP planning, and cross-functional operations. Successful candidates can grow into roles such as Senior Buyer, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain Planner.
Responsibilities
- Create and process purchase orders in the ERP system based on MRP and operational demand
- Manage order acknowledgements, track supplier deliveries, and follow up on delays
- Communicate daily with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, and availability
- Communicate outcomes of supplier discussions to Planning, Warehouse, Quality, and other relevant teams
- Collaborate with Warehouse and Receiving teams to confirm supplier deliveries align with purchase orders
- Support inventory management by helping maintain appropriate stock levels
- Assist in resolving invoice discrepancies, receiving issues, and basic supplier issues
- Maintain and update supplier master data accurately and in a timely manner, including contacts, addresses, lead times, and pricing
- Escalate supply risks or shortages to senior buyers or sourcing team
- Support audits, documentation, and compliance requirements
- Run supplier performance reports, including on-time delivery (OTD), and provide reports to Buyers and Sourcing team for review and follow-up
- Assist with supplier onboarding – create new supplier records in ERP, Coordinate supplier Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) with the Contracts team as required
- Schedule Microsoft Teams meetings with suppliers as directed by Senior Buyers or the Supervisor
- Support sourcing activities as needed
Requirements
- 0–2 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or operations (internship experience welcome)
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Basic understanding of supply chain and purchasing concepts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; ERP experience a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Sense of urgency and accountability
- Willingness to learn and ask questions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Team-oriented and collaborative mindset
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent job experience
Pay
The estimated salary range for this position is $53,100 - $60,000. This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus plan, subject to the rules governing the plan.

Schedule
Office-based role with occasional remote flexibility. 4 day office requirement. Fast-paced, cross-functional environment requiring strong organization and communication. Occasional extended hours may be needed to support global projects and deadlines.
