Operations Assistant

About the role

We're hiring one person to help run day-to-day operations at Michigan Bricks. Your job is throughput. Lots of LEGO comes in. We want sorted and quality LEGO going out to our clients. Right now every minifigure moves through the founder's hands. Your job is to take that over.

What you'll do

• Handle inbound orders, check each minifigure for damage, and add figures to inventory
• Prep wholesale orders for clients
• Consistently hit accuracy standards to prevent customer refunds
• Within 90 days, run the pipeline solo and focus on increasing output

Promise

You'll learn more about running a profitable multi-six-figure business in a year here than most people learn in 4 years of school.

Pay

• $20/hr, part time (20-30 hrs/week, M-F). Paid bi-weekly. Minimum of 20 hours. Very flexible hours
• 5% of monthly gross profit from contributions, paid on the last day of the month. Profit share begins at day 90
• Your share steps up to 10% at 12 months, 15% at 24 months
• Bonus: If the company is acquired while you're on the team, 2.5% of the acquisition is yours

Requirements

• You're someone who's good at maintaining a high level of concentration and attention to detail over long periods of time
• You're within commuting distance of Dearborn, MI, and can work in person, part-time
• You can do detailed, hands-on work, and are physically able to lift inventory boxes
• You hold yourself to a high standard, even when no one is watching

Nice to have

• An interest in LEGO. You don't need to know anything about it because we'll teach you everything, but you should think spending your days around it sounds fun
• You approach things from first principles
• You've ran a business before and understand how they actually work
• Well versed in business terms and ideas (high business IQ)
• You've been part of something with a high bar: A small business, a sports team, fast-paced working environment, etc. Somewhere you were pushed into growing and you liked it
• An unusual path. We like people who say what they actually think and might not "fit the norm"

Not required

A degree. The founder dropped out to build. If you're on the fence about college, this is the other option.
