Operations and Maintenance Superintendent

About the role
This position will supervise the day-to-day management of the Maintenance Business Unit for the SR400 Express Lanes Project, ensuring contract requirements are met safely, dependably, cost-effectively, and aesthetically. The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a joint venture between Ferrovial Dragados and ACCIONA. The project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station to McFarland, enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. It includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and significant corridor improvements, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.
Responsibilities
- Perform condition assessments of pavements, signs, guardrails, bridges, vegetation, and other contract infrastructure and assets.
- Schedule and coordinate work to be performed; assist with roadway characteristics inventory.
- Assist the Operations and Maintenance Manager in determining the best approach (self-performance or sub-contract) for bringing assets into contract compliance, considering cost, timelines, and efficiency.
- Plan and coordinate work plan schedules; inspect in-process and completed work to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Supervise maintenance crews, including selection, development, and performance management; facilitate new hire training and ongoing safety/work standard training.
- Be available outside normal business hours as needed, including participating in an on-call rotation for nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Respond to incident emergencies and coordinate on-site responders; report accidents/injuries (actual and near misses).
- Assist in the inspection of fleet; manage, monitor, and control highway project assets and materials.
- Identify opportunities for changes and improvements in work methods, processes, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Create and manage the successful completion of all work orders.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion and entry of work reporting and timesheets for field crews; prepare other reports and correspondence as necessary.
- Identify and qualify subcontractors; assist in negotiating contract parameters with subcontractors.
- Assist and monitor routine work plan activities such as traffic control and maintenance work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or higher; relevant work experience in construction or maintenance.
- 7 years’ work experience in the construction and/or road maintenance industry; prior experience in a leadership role is highly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (required).
- DOT certifications (highly desired).
- CDL license preferred but not necessary.

- Use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric-powered tools and equipment.
