About the role

Under the direction of the Information Technology Director, an employee in this class performs activities involving the knowledge of principles and practices of Information Technology (IT). The role provides technical skills and knowledge to assist the IT Director in maintaining and upgrading the County’s workstations, hardware, and peripherals. The position includes sharing on-call support duties.

Responsibilities

  • Configure workstations for Winona County end users, including supporting, troubleshooting, and upgrading applicable hardware and software applications.
  • Facilitate phone and desk moves.
  • Maintain and modify the Office365 Environment.
  • Maintain the County’s telephone and voicemail systems.
  • Provide HelpDesk support for incoming calls and issues.
  • Install and configure peripherals (e.g., scanners, printers, mobile devices).
  • Work with internal and external clients, vendors, and state departments.
  • Participate in committees and workgroups to create and support technology solutions for county service delivery, including certification testing and rollout of new systems and updates.
  • Perform on-call duties.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or two-year vocational certificate in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Network Administration, or a related area, plus at least three years of experience in the operation and maintenance of computer networks; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, Microsoft IIS, database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory/Windows Server (including adding users, granting permissions, and applying security).
  • Experience maintaining end-user workstations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, State employees, vendors, consultants, and employees from other local government agencies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions.
  • Experience installing and configuring peripherals (e.g., scanners).
  • Strong understanding of document management concepts.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a personal background investigation.
  • Drug test required.

Pay

$39.39 - $52.15 per hour, with additional on-call pay.

Schedule

First (Day) shift, full-time, on-site.
