Description
The Operational Buyer plays a critical role in supporting daily procurement activities within the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process, ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently, accurately, and on time. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in driving operational excellence.
What You Will Do
- Purchase Order Management - Review and convert approved purchase requisitions into purchase orders within NetSuite. Ensure accuracy of item, quantity, pricing, delivery dates, and payment terms. Communicate purchase orders to suppliers and confirm acknowledgment.
- Supplier Coordination & Delivery Management - Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and order accuracy. Track open orders and proactively address delays, shortages, or quality issues. Coordinate with warehouse/3PL to resolve receiving discrepancies.
- Maintain visibility on shipments, confirmations, and delivery timelines. Support RFQ process for indirect purchases and document supplier quotes. Track and report supplier performance metrics (on-time delivery, accuracy, quality).
- Partner with AP to resolve invoice discrepancies and blocked invoices. Ensure all purchases follow company policies, approval workflows, and authorization limits. Maintain proper documentation and audit-ready records for all transactions.
- Support contract execution and compliance with supplier standards. Partner with Planning/MRP teams to align procurement with production needs. Work with Finance/AP on invoice issues, pricing variances, and cost impacts. Communicate risks, delays, or shortages to internal stakeholders. Participate in NPI activities and shortage review meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and P2P processes
- Strong Excel and data management skills
- Solid understanding of MRP and inventory management
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Solid communication and problem-solving skills
What Will Make You A Rockstar
- Experience with NetSuite and Salesforce
- Knowledge of RFQ processes and supplier evaluation
- Supply chain certifications (APICS, CPSM, etc.)
- Exposure to import/export or global procurement
- Continuous improvement or Lean experience
