About the role

As an Operational Buyer you will focus on tactical execution of procurement strategies set forth by corporate commodity management and, based on commodity, also act as a strategic buyer to develop and implement sourcing strategies and execute negotiations for the assigned material field. You will focus on internal customers and partners who can’t be successful without your contribution, timeliness, and transparency. You will work in a highly motivated team with a can-do attitude, helping and supporting each other. You will solve short-term/daily issues, creating huge value for our factories and customers, while also working with the global commodity management teams to develop and implement long-lasting improvement and development projects. You will become an expert in tactical execution, expediting, strategic negotiation, and supply chain performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with global/local commodity management and material planning teams to optimize procurement planning, alignment, and execution.
  • Manage sourcing activities, including RFQs, supplier evaluations, technical clarifications, total cost analysis, negotiations, and supplier selection.
  • Oversee purchase order lifecycle management, ensuring timely execution, order confirmations, quality compliance, and supplier performance.
  • Implement procurement strategies for assigned commodities, including pricing, supplier mix, vendor onboarding, lead times, and budget performance management.
  • Lead supplier and stakeholder coordination on technical, contractual, logistics, transportation, customs, and claim management matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, data quality, and supplier base performance while achieving KPIs related to savings, on-time delivery, claims, and process quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3–4 years of experience in direct purchasing, material requirements planning, or a comparable supply chain role.
  • Experience in manufacturing or power generation environments.
  • Proficiency in SAP procurement ("Buy") modules and advanced Excel-based data analysis.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, influencing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across cultures and drive results.
  • Demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, continuous process improvement, and supporting operational excellence initiatives.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

About the team

Our Gas Services division offers low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. We provide zero or low-emission power generation solutions, including all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines, and generators. Decarbonization opportunities are delivered through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
