Operational Buyer
Your Role
As an Operational Buyer, you play a vital role in enhancing the Distribution Center's overall performance by securing a consistent supply of materials, supplies, and services. You will optimize the balance of cost, lead-time, quality, and service to meet all customer and site requirements. You will report directly to the supply chain manager.
Responsibilities
- Assure that material, supplies, and services are available as required and meet established goals through adherence to Edwards / Atlas Copco purchasing policies.
- Builds strong relationships with suppliers to leverage their collective knowledge and abilities to further Edwards and Atlas Copco business objectives.
- Engages suppliers to expedite goods when necessary and clearly communicate the appropriate details with all affected groups and coordinate follow-up plans.
- Utilizes reports to ensure adequate inventory of purchased material is maintained to meet production requirements.
- Creates and maintains requisitions, purchase orders, acknowledgments, and resolves invoice discrepancies. Identifies changes in customer demand and adjusts accordingly.
- Utilizes MRP/SAP system to perform material requirements planning through interactions between production and planning personnel to ensure material availability.
- Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance and works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Respectsfully takes direction from the supervisor/manager.
Qualifications
- High School education or GED.
- 2 years minimum experience buying direct and indirect material to support business operations.
- Experience in an aftermarket environment with emphasis on customer service.
- APICS, NAPM or ISM certification a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to drive positive outcomes with creative solutions to sourcing and supplier development.
- Working Experience with Microsoft Office – PowerPoint and Excel.
- Working knowledge of MRP. SAP experience is preferred.
- Well-developed communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter and effective time manager. Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.

Job Location
This hybrid role requires your presence on-site at our Sanborn, New York facility for 60% of the time. You will join a dynamic team and benefit from both direct, in-person collaboration and the flexibility of remote work.
Salary Range
$60,000 - $90,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.
