About the role
The Operations Engineering Manager provides leadership to ensure ongoing process improvement initiatives that deliver excellence across the entire value chain. This role coordinates and leads facility resources and employees to meet or exceed company business objectives, organizing strategic initiatives and utilizing enterprise standards.
Responsibilities
- Drives facility operations priorities to meet or exceed customer expectations, meet goals identified through SMART goal deployment, achieve KPIs, and maximize employee contribution and development.
- Ensures ongoing success of process improvement initiatives by implementing policies, procedures, and process documentation.
- Deploys demand-driven principles and strategies that support operational excellence and long-range plans (Flexibility, Speed & Responsiveness).
- Ensures product, material, and information streams flow and are synchronized to produce maximum efficiencies and lowest cost of operation.
- Evaluates situations objectively and demonstrates the ability to make decisions that positively impact work performance, the area, and the total business.
- Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to complete tasks on time with quality, anticipating problem areas in advance. Applies creative problem-solving approaches and ideas.
- Accountable for defining resource needs and works within budget and staffing parameters to accomplish objectives.
- Acts as SAP Super User within the functional area as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Industrial Technology OR equivalent experience in the Operations function within a similar working environment.
- 5 years of progressive Engineering management experience in a similar work environment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of financial measurements and goals.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong project leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior management, teams, and individuals across multiple functions.
- Experience collaborating with multiple sites and functions to drive common solutions.
- Experience operating in high-mix, low-volume and high-volume, low-mix production environments.
- Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability, including identifying creative and effective solutions, asking the right questions, and framing logical conclusions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Supply Chain Management or MBA.
- ERP/MRP user (SAP/Oracle).
- Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.
- Demonstrated experience managing sheet metal fabrication, including programming, blanking (laser, punch), press brake forming, welding, and powder coating.
- Demonstrated experience with Capital Asset Management and bringing new assets online through installation, training, and production execution.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk and hear; use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
- Regularly required to stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.
- Must occasionally lift up to 25–50 pounds.
- Typical conditions include frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
