Operating Room Technician | Surgical Services

Job Summary

Aid the nursing staff in operating room patient care through non-nursing duties.

Essential Functions

• Assist with room turnovers, including cleaning and delivery of specimens.
• Deliver surgical and culture specimens to the Laboratory or X-ray as needed.
• Obtain blood products from the Blood Bank, prepare slips, and confirm with Blood Bank.
• Prepare beds and transport carts, ensuring availability of oxygen tanks, linens, and equipment.
• Position patients as requested and obtain supplies/equipment for upcoming cases.
• Return supplies to the core and maintain stock of clinical items.
• Respond to departmental needs, prioritize and organize tasks, and complete duties according to checklists.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Additional Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
• 1+ years of Housekeeping/Custodian experience

Scheduling Requirements

Requires adherence to assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.

Physical Requirements

• Very Heavy Work - Exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 100 pounds occasionally.
• Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.
